A really big update
Hi hack n slashers,
i have some news for you.
After several plays it's turned out how the game is not nearly as deadly as i and the other testers wished, so i worked on a few small changes.
Stamina
Stamina is the first protection layer for every character. It’s very easy to regain (just rest a few minutes and have a drink) and for this reason this resource must be consumed fast, very fast.
Stamina max amount is reduced from Physique Die (rolled) + 6 to Physique Die rolled only.
Start to fear every dark alley.
Success Levels
Success Level is a way to represent the fact that the better you hit the more damage you inflict but, with 1 SL every 4 rolled on the die, the bonus is really low (+3 at max without bonuses from items).
The SL progression has been reduced from 1SL each 4 rolled on the die to 1SL every 2 rolled on the die (starting from 4).
So the progression now is 4=1SL, 6=2SL, 8=3SL and so on…
Damage and Death
With the previous version the target without Stamina must roll a Critical Test for each SL the attacker gets on the Attack Test.
In the new version the target must roll Critical Test once but only succeeds if the roll is higher than the damage (after being reduced by Armor and Stamina). The Critical Test must be repeated until the Target succeeds or until he dies (fail after fail until he rolls bad with a d4 or until is mathematically impossible to succeed, for example, if target needs to roll 7+ with a d6).
Two handed weapons
Two handed weapons do not give +1SL anymore, instead the Critical Test vs Damage inflicted by these weapons is made with Disadvantage.
Shield
To balance new high letality, shields have received a little buff.
As in the past you can still decide to ignore all damages of an attack after the Attack roll but now this won’t lead anymore automatically to discard the shield. Instead do a Critical Test vs the incoming damage (before any reduction) with the Usage die of the shield. If you roll higher than the incoming damage ok, otherwise reduce the die and keep rolling the same Critical Test untill you succeed at it or until the shield breaks.
New face lifting
This update bring not only mechanical updates but also some little graphical tweaks.
Hope you enjoy the more darker and consistent look. It’s a bit less printer friendly as the background is no longer “full white”, but it’s still a pretty light color and the edge are still white, so you can still go for full 100% size print without any cutted edge.
